One of our customers provides Transmission and Distribution services for the Utility industry. Communications Distribution Engineers often specify 2.00" - 3.50" A572 Grade 50 and A572 Grade 65 steel for foundation base plates for their towers. The large, Blanchard ground plates shown in the picture above left are machine side frames for a company that manufactures custom machines.

Wind Energy Turbines and Tower Foundations: Base Plates, Ring Plates, Flange Plates

Many wind energy tower projects specificy A572-50 steel to manufacture foundation base plates. Some of the ring plates and flanges are to be cut from ASTM A572 grade 50, while others specify ASTM A36. All of these parts, including the large bolster plate you see pictured above right were manufactured complete on-site at Precision Grinding.
